    Dear Alex,

    Thanks for your answer.

Yes. It was in the Landssvikarkivet (traitors Archives) in Riksarkivet we found our mothers secret. But the files tell next to nothing about her experiences in Germany. They deal with her crime. I often get this feeling that I, as a storyteller, am getting the wrong kind of information in archives and books. I bash in facts and figures, places and atrocities, but do seldom come near the people behind the facts. That is why I try to find other sources. Like peoples memories, stories, urban or rural myths, photos.

The storyteller in me will explore ways to live with, and develop thoughts through stories on how to deal with the turmoil of feelings connected to both my mothers secret and, on a more global level, the bad treatment of women who had done wrong in the aftermath of wars.

    Stay safe,

    sincerely yours

    Ivar

    Dear all, liebe freunde :)

Thank you so much for your answers. Of course it is Oberhaching, and the registration I refer to is from Arolsen Archives (ITS). The great mystery is really what happened between 1st of may 45 in Sterzing and late september in Le Havre. Where was she, how did she travel and so forth.

About Krachau I rechecked with my mothers court file, and the fault is mine and I am very sorry. The correct spelling is Krakau, todays Krakow in Poland. In 1945 Krakow was Krakau both in Norwegian and german.

I will file a request towards the bundesarchiv and DRK-archives, and of course post what I find here.

    yours sincerely

    Ivar

    Dear Sir/Madam,

My mother, Marianne Stensland (18.05.23) from Stavanger, Norway applied to be a DRK nurse at her ortskommendatur i Stavanger, Norway in autumn 1943. She was accepted, and in February 1944 travelled together with 28 others from Oslo to Munchen for a 3 months course at a clinic there. Dr. Riefler in Prinz Ludwig Strasse 7. There is a registration dated 1946 that places her in Oberhacing in march 1944. After Munchen she served in Krachau before being sent to Sterzing/Vipeteno in winter 44. In Sterzing she probably served with units SS-Nachrichten-Ausbildungs- und Ersatz-Abteilung 5 and/or Technische Bataillon 10, 1. kompani E. (FPN 41652) until surrendering to Italian partisans on the 1st of May 1945. The next thing we know is that she was sent from Displaced person camp to DP camp through Europe until she borded a norwegian ship The "Haakon 7." from Le Havre in late september 45 and came to Kristiansand, Norway on the 4th of October 45. There she was apprehended, and later sentenced to one year in prison for treason in september 46.

My mother never told her sons about her service as DRK-Krankenschwester. It first came to light after her death in november 2018. As a storyteller I am working on a story about her and her time. I am very grateful for any information about Marianne Stensland, the places she served, units she served with, DP-Camps, anything that may have the slightest connection with this story. Please to respond in german. I can read and understand german, but sadly my writing is not as good as it ought to be. Many thanks and best wishes to all in these strange times.

Vielen Dank Bernhard, I can read and understand german, but writing and speaking is a bit difficult. Thank you for translating.

By searching the posts in the Forum I will suggest that the Flakabteilung could be Technische Bataillon 7, 1. kompani E. FPN 41652. I am very grateful for any information about what happened in Sterzing in those early months of 45. Of course I am focused on the first days of may.

My mother never told her sons about her service as DRK-Krankenschwester. It first came to light after her death in november 2018. We got to know that she served one year in prison for her collaboration with the enemy. She came to München in February 44 for a three months nursing course. After that she served in Krachau until september/october when the DRK presidium ordered her to Sterzing. She was taken by the partisans and then handed over to the americans. My guess and hope is that she was captured together with the german soldiers so that there might be some memories even after all this time.

The next thing we know is that she was sent from camp to camp through Europe until she borded a norwegian ship The "Håkon 7." from Le Havre in late september 45 and came to Kristiansand on the 4th of october. There she was apprehended, and sentenced to one year in prison for treason in september 46. The family knew nothing of this.

I am a storyteller and working on a story called "Mothers secret". The premier is set for 8th of october 2020 at Arkivet - peace and human rights centre in Kristiansand. It will be a different war story.

An important one, I think. For some a war really never ends.

    yours sincerely

Dear Sir, my mother served as a DRK-nurse i Sterzing/Vipiteno from autumn 1944 until captured by italian partisans 1st of may 1945. In her statement to the norwegian authorities after the war she says there was a SS-ausbildungs abteilung there (most likely the one you link to in #2) but she says that they were replaced by a Flakabt. My questions and wishes are.

    - what unit (krankenrevier, lazarets) could my mother have served with in Sterzing,

    - Photos from Sterzing in the last phase of the war.

    - directions to sources of information about DRK-nurses.

My mothers name was Marianne Stensland, born 18.05.23
