italian footballer wounded

  • Hi all! I found a strange story on a German war crime: a footballer, Vincenzo Voccia, born in 1923, was in Coperchia (Salerno) on 21st september 1943 when German troops began a roundup to bring men in Germany for working or at least perhaps on the Gustav Line defences. He run to escape from Germans but he was wounded in an arm.

    According one source they were Gestapo soldiers? I know that south of Gustav Line there weren't SS or Gestapo troops, so somebody can help me to identify this unit?
