Kann jemand etwas über diese Uniformen sagen? - 2 Fotos

(Bitte entschuldigen Sie mein schlechtes Deutsch - Ich benutze "Google übersetzen") ?(

  • Hi Louise,Yes. These are Luftwaffe Musikkorps soldiers with "swallows nests" shoulders but these shoulders were used by all Wehrmacht and SS Musical Bands.

On these jackets pictured in these photos change collar tabs and breast LW eagle.
Collar tabs in the first photo show that he is a Unteroffizier (seargent) then a Oberfeldwebel (like an Oversergent in Danish Army today).
Breast eagle is different: the first is the first model and in the second photo the second model:

  • Thank you SO much Matteo! :)

I have reason to believe that the man of this uniform was assigned in “der Schutzpolizei”.
The only thing on the jacket that shows he was a musician is the “Swallow nests”?

The shoulder ”straps” is sadly not to be seen, but the collartabs indicates nothing like the ones you posted..

We were told that he started as Unteroffizer -> Oberwachtmeister -> Hauptwachtmeister.
I just thought that the musicians had other rangs? “Stabsmusikmeister” and so on. But maybe that was only in the big orcestras..

I'm trying to figure out what kind of “band” he could have played, and if he maybe had any other assignments :)

    Thank you!
    Regards from Denmark

    Vielen Dank Matteo! :)

    Vielen Dank!

  • Hi Louise, I think that he was probably in a Musical band and then in Schutzeopolizei; it's not strange that German soldiers were initially, for example, in Heer panzergrenadiers and then in Kriegsmarine or another example: I saw German soldiers's soldbuch and they wer initially in Luftwaffe FlaK and then in Waffen-SS.
I saw many Germans who fallen in the battle of Salerno first in FlaK or in Kriegsmaeinw and then in H.Goring Division.
    Regards Matteo

Because we are talking of Polizei, I want to remember all victims of 23th march 1944 in Via Rasella in Rome.
11.Kompanie des III Batallion des Polizei Regiment "Bozen"
Karl Andergassen, Franz Bergmeister, Josef Dissertori, Georg Eichner, Jakob Erlacher, Friedrich Fischnaller, Johann Fischnaller, Eduard Frötscher, Vinzenz Haller, Leonhard Kaspareth, Johann Kaufmann, Anton Matscher, Anton Mittelberger, Michael Moser, Franz Niederstätter Eugen Oberlechner, Mathias Oberrauch, Paulinus Palla, Augustin Pescosta ,Daniel Profanter, Josef Raich, Anton Rauch, Engelbert Rungger Johann Schweigl, Johann SeyerIgnatz Spiess, Eduard Spögler, Ignatz Stecher, Albert Stedile, Josef Steger, Hermann Tschigg, Fidelius Turneretscher undJosef Wartbichler.

There were killed 335 italians on 24th March in Ardeatine Cave but Germans killed were at the end of March ca.45-50 (died of wounds)

soldiers of Bozen with GNR soldiers after the explosion (note Italian camo m1929 zeltbahn, Carcano 91 rifle and scarponi m1912 boots)
    [Blocked Image: http://digilander.libero.it/historia_militaria/ras1.jpg]
According Germans commanders, they were half germans and italians because many lived in Alto Adige (Italian Tyrol) and also italian partisans said that they were old father with a family and good people, the most good and harmless Germans soldiers in all Europe in that years, during the war.

In the explosion were killed also italian people and a boy 13 years old, Piero Zuccheretti (exist a photo which depcit his body torn up by the bomb); a senseless massacre...
Many soldiers of Bozen (already attacked verbally during training by German officers because they were"half italian") deserted and kept, were sent to Russian front and nobody survived.
After the war, many former partisans justified this massacre said that "they were SS" but here the photos:

a German Policeman (Grune Polizei) and an SS

So Bozen soldiers weren't SS but still today nobody remember this victims, not well liked by Germans and Italians.

    Never Again.

  • Hi Matteo - Thanks for your telling. I'll remember them along with you. Senseless loss of innocent humanbeings brings huge tracks in everyone elses lifes..

I have become wiser, thanks to you.
The pictures may have been taken before 1942, when I know for sure that he started in Schutzpolizei. I have Googled like mad and asked a number of people, and I think that he might have played a Fliegerhorst Musikkorps. I don't know how to find out, but at least that's what I am trying to look into now .. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!

    Regards from Denmark!
